He is a Professor of History, Director of American Studies, and Faculty Associate in the Center for the Study of Religion and American Culture at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. He teaches a variety of courses including 20th Century U.S. History, U.S. Intellectual History, American Studies, Movies and American Culture, American Cultural History, and American Religious History. His personal research has included topics such American Studies, American Religious History, History of Movie Culture, Transnational Intellectual History, Civil Religion, American Catholic History, “just war theory,” and more!
